Why corrosion keeps going
Water carries minerals, and coffee, wine and seawater carry sugar and salt. With power on the board, those residues start electrolysis that eats tiny components and their connections. Rice only dries the outside; the residue under the chips stays.
How we recover it
We open the device, clean the board ultrasonically, treat the corrosion and replace damaged components until it powers on long enough to copy your data off safely. If the device holds anything you can't lose, the data comes first, before any attempt at a lasting repair.
Phones vs laptops
Phones and recent MacBooks encrypt their storage to their own board, so the board has to work again for the data to be read. Older laptops with a removable drive are simpler: the drive often survives and can be recovered directly.

The initial assessment is always free. If a separate in-depth diagnostic is needed, we quote it first and it is only payable if you approve it. If we then can't recover the files you told us matter, there is no recovery fee and we return your device; you pay only the return postage.
Questions
Should I put my wet phone in rice?
No. Rice draws out very little moisture from inside and wastes time while corrosion spreads. Switch it off and get it to us.
It works again after drying. Should I still send it?
If it was a sugary or salty liquid, a clean is worth it. Corrosion often shows up days or weeks later.
Can you recover data from a phone that was in the sea?
Often, if it is switched off quickly and sent straight away. Salt water is aggressive, so time matters most.
